This week we went decidedly Spanish with Modern Spanish Cookery by Sam and Eddie Hart. Before Barafina had more than one location, before Sador existed, Fino was an amazing restaurant for contemporary Spanish cooking. Sadly it is no more. We went back in the day and loved it. This cookbook was probably bought at about that time. This week we went for: Hake with Salsa Verde – a winning combo combined with Patatas a lo Pobre – a potato and onion number. Next up was Chicken with red peppers with Olive Oil Mash. The chicken was great but the olive oil mash was not universally loved sadly. We then did a Tapas Night – Jamon Croquettas, tortilla, gazpacho, panne con tomato and padron peppers. It was mega. The croquettas could have had chunkier Jamon but everything was delicious. The Gazpacho was refreshing, and the tortilla was a solid classic. We sat the family opposite me at the kitchen bar and I cooked up each tapas as they sat there and tried each little dish. It was a really fun evening.
