Next up was Maze, by Jason Atherton. Jason is a protege of Gordon Ramsay. Maze was the first (in my memory) of brining tapas style eating (small plates) to non spanish food – something that has definitely continued as a food trend long after Maze’s departure from the capital’s restaurant scene. Whilst the book can be a a little cheffy, if you look there are some really approachable recipes in here too. We only cooked a few this week. First up was Lemon and Garlic Roasted Chicken with Morrocan Spices. This was a delicious little number and very straight forward. Later in the week we had Baba Ganoush and Houmous with Pitas. I’m a huge fan of Baba Ganoush, though this version was a touch sweet so perhaps I’d do the recipe a little different next time. The Houmous was good but not really drastically different to our usual recipe.
