This week was Meat by Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall – one of the most used books in our kitchen – mostly because the roasting times are perfect. This book was bought for us by a good friend of ours and has been well loved for probably getting on for 20 years. I even turned the roasting times into a iOS shortcut which I use for always getting the timing right! This book was all about eating good quality, well cared for meat. It’s always tricky though when, on the shelves, you come to a book that is so frequently used – what do you cook? We went for new recipes – Pan-to-Oven Pork Chops with Garlic. This was amazing – tons of garlic, exceptionally easy mid week dinner dish – one we’ll do again and again. Now we often like a curry or something a bit spicy on a Friday night whilst we watch a movie as a family. We had the fabulous Piccadillo with Tacos – think of it as a Mexican bolognese, but with sultanas, olives and flaked almonds – just wonderful.
