This week was another French (at least French-inspired) cookbook, the Balthazar Cookbook. Balthazar became an iconic New York brasserie that a few years ago opened branch in London. I love it! We spotted two genuinely great recipes. First up was Spaetzle which accompanied a pan-fried salmon fillet. Spaetzle is an Austrian / German pasta. This recipe nailed the taste of Spaetzle, but we’re going to have to work on the texture a bit. It was wonderful. The kiddiewinks were not so convinced! Next up was Pork Milanese – a flattened pork chop floured, egged and pankoed (if that’s a word). Just delicious. The Balthazar book merits more use, and we’ll definitely go back to Spaetzle!!
