This week we’ve been using The Little Book of Lunch by Caroline Craig and Sophie Missing. This is a charming little book of ideas for things to take for lunch and for making lunch look appetising when you do. We only got around to cooking one recipe, the Quiche Lorraine. This was a straightforward recipe; we used Picard frozen shortcrust pastry, which is absolutely exceptional. This French frozen-food company produces some fantastic things to keep in the freezer – not only their brilliant pastry and croissants but also their frozen pearl onions, which are way easier than peeling the little devils for use in a boeuf bourguignon. The quiche was quick to do, light and not too cheesy which made for a lovely Friday lunch with a green salad – we’ll be doing that again. We have more lunch books next week!
