This week’s book was Flavour by Yotam Ottolenghi. His Lemon Sorbet with Hibiscus gave us an opportunity to try my ice cream maker – the colour was amazing, and the flavour/presentation was great. We had an awesome One-Pan Orecchiette Puttanesca – just superb and really straightforward. We tried the Potatoes and Thai Basil Salsa, which was great. Another tasty side this week was Leeks with miso and chive salsa. Lunch on Thursday was the rather wonderful Dirty Rice – which was fantastic, really meaty and satisfying without any meat at all – chestnuts were what gave it the meaty flavour. With some simple lamb steaks, we had Olive Oil Flatbreads with three-garlic butter. Wow, the garlic butter was amazing. Friday night is frequently curry night for us, and we tried the really great Chaat Masala Potatoes with yoghurt and tamarind to go with our Butter Chicken. Flavour was a good book: Dirty Rice, Chaat Masala Potatoes and the three-garlic butter were the stars of the week. Next, we have three weeks of the River Cafe!
