Sea Bass with Basil Potato Puree
This weeks cookbook was Made in Italy by Giorgio Locatelli. This is a book we’ve had for many years but have not used much. We made a Mango and Strawberry Lasagne a few years ago, and though delicious, it was a lot of work, so much, so we didn’t cook anything from the book until this week. It’s such a shame as it is an excellent book with some approachable recipes and some beautiful stories of Italian food. We started with chargrilled lamb with peppers and aubergine puree, which was a truly delicious lunch. Midweek we had a few cracking little meals. Chicken breast with Spinach was simple and delicious. Duck Breast with Broccoli was the first time I’ve ever cooked spelt, and it was superb. The last meal of the week was Sea Bass with Basil Potato Puree, a super simple recipe but absolutely delicious. The book also inspired us to attempt pizza again; though we didn’t use the recipe from this book, we did cook some pretty good pizza this week. We’re now at the end of the first shelf of cookery books. I might do a special end of shelf update. Now on to shelf two, where we’re going back to a chef who, in my view, changed the face of cooking in Britain by making cooking accessible to a new generation and changed the way food programmes worked on TV. Next week its The Naked Chef – Jamie Oliver
