This week’s Cookbook was Elizabeth David’s A Book of Mediterranean Food. The book is a beautifully illustrated version that my Dad had. We cooked a cracking chicken recipe Pollo in Padella con Peperoni which is essentially chicken braised with onions, garlic, herbs, peppers, tomatoes and served with orange. We served it with a wonderful cauliflower which is simply boiled and then fried in olive oil to finish – this was amazing, and we’ll do it again. We also followed her recipe for aioli, which she makes in a pestle and mortar with a wooden spoon, and my goodness, was the texture beautiful. This week’s last recipe was a lovely Provençal Leeks, with leeks cooked in olive oil, tomatoes, olives, lemon juice, and zest. This is a great recipe and one I can see becoming a staple of our side dishes. Next week is a home cooking book by one of the greatest chefs of all time!
